The
Otherside crew's roots can be traced back to a small shop in New Jersey
called Island
Surf & Sail. Shana started there while still in high school,
and Mikey stumbled in during his last years in College. A few dozen
cases of red bull/vodka, countless hours of debauchery, 1000 hours
of kiteboarding instruction, a comprehensive grasp on retail knowledge
and six years later, it was time to spread our wings.
We spent some time visiting the Keys, as Noel would
teach with us in the summers, and then head down to the Keys in
the winters. It didn't take long to realize that the locals needed
a shop that they could depend on. It wasn't just kiteboarders; there
was no one outfitting skateboarders and wakeboarders either. The
dream was realized and became reality when we opened our doors in
November.
Here
we are, literally living our dream, being able outfit all of our
favorite sports (minus snowboarding) and sharing the joy with others
who are like-minded.

Mission
Statement
The Otherside will serve primarily as a retail market and lesson
center. Our storefront will provide a family oriented showroom and
demo center staffed by our highly knowledgeable team. Our main goal
will be to maximize our customers' fun by providing the right knowledge
and the right equipment for each individual. The store will also
be the main hub for our student to make inquires and to check in
for their lessons. More importantly, the shop will serve as a clubhouse
of sorts, where riders can come to check out the latest videos,
gear, or just share the excitement of their latest session.
In keeping active within the community as well as
growing our team, The Otherside will host a number of events, including
contests, parties, demos, safely clinics and beach clean ups. We
will sponsor local talent, focusing on the individual’s attitude
and aptitude in the community and in school just as much as in the
skate park.
We will strive to make an impression within the
industry, and above all we will serve as an avenue for the safe
progression of the sports we love.
Provided
with the right equipment, proper instruction and an enthusiastic
team behind you, the greener grass is attainable.
